Permanent Residence

The Canadian laws grant foreign nationals, who are not citizens of Canada, the right to live and work legally in the country without any time limit. Foreign nationals can apply for permanent residency with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under one of the several programs.

  • Express Entry

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program: Persons with a suitable combination of education, work experience, age and possessing a good level of English and/or French can apply under this program.

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program: Available to persons with a recognized trade qualification or a job offer in Canada and possessing a fair level of English and/or French.

  • Canadian Experience Class: Persons with at least a year of full time skilled work experience in Canada and possessing a good level of English and/or French can apply under this program.

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): It is administered by Provincial Governments, providing a secondary pathway to permanent residence for students, workers and business owners. Such programs are designed to attract and retain applicants those are most likely to settle permanently in the province and to contribute to its economic growth.

Within the PNP, there are several regional pilot programs or streams targeting skilled workers, business driven paths, international graduates, Family connection or Agricultural/Farming programs; eventually leading to permanent residence in different provinces under different categories.
